David S. Gunn
David is certified as a Tax Attorney and Estate Planning Specialist by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization. He primarily practices in the areas of tax and estate planning, including the drafting of wills, trusts and other estate planning documents. Over the past several decades, David frequently represented both plaintiffs and defendants in complex civil litigation and defended numerous taxpayers who were accused by the IRS or Louisiana Dept. of Revenue of a wide variety of tax crimes. In addition to tax litigation, he typically represents clients in dispute resolution, commercial litigation, and business litigation.
David is experienced in business formations, including corporations, LLCs and partnerships. He has negotiated and drafted business contracts (such as buy-sell agreements), and is experienced in sales/use tax controversies and litigation. David practiced for several years as a CPA before pursuing his law degree at the Louisiana State University Law Center.
David is frequently invited to speak about issues directly relevant to complex tax and business transactions (including sales of business entities or their business operations), and has in the past been invited to present technical presentations across South Louisiana, Dallas, Houston, Nashville, North Carolina, New York, Boston, Hawaii, and in Belize. For many years, he has been invited to speak to various attorney groups, including the Baton Rouge, Livingston Parish and Ascension Parish Bar Associations, the LSU Law Center, and to various Louisiana CPA groups. Most recently, David served as the chairman of the Tax & Estate Planning Seminar offered by the Louisiana State Bar Association on June 25th 2021.
For several years, he was asked to “grade” the examinations for certification as a Tax Law and Estate Planning Specialist for the Louisiana State Bar Association (Board of Legal Specialization). He was nominated and served three terms on the Tax Law Advisory Commission. His Law Practice (Gunn & York, with offices located in Baton Rouge) is highly respected by the Courts, the IRS, the Louisiana Dept. of Revenue, the City/Parish, and the legal and business community. David has also been nominated by his peers and selected/recognized by the Super Lawyers organization eleven times; his ethical ranking by Martindale Hubbell is AV rated (the highest possible).
Tami T. York
Tami has been a partner with Gunn & York for 24 years. Her practice focuses primarily on complex civil and criminal tax dispute resolution and representation before the IRS, Louisiana Department of Revenue, and Local Taxing Authorities. Tami’s practice also includes estate planning, where she has gained extensive experience in the drafting of wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents. She frequently handles Successions, as well as litigation related to Successions. Tami is experienced in business law including: the formation of a business (corporations, LLCs, and non-profit/tax-exempt entities), the negotiation and drafting of business contracts (such as buy-sell and redemption agreements), sales/use tax controversies and litigation, and the (recently concluded) IRS Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program.
Tami earned her J.D. degree from LSU Law Center in 1997, where she served as Moot Court Chairman. Tami has presented numerous Seminars on topics including Federal and State (Louisiana) Offers in Compromise and Installment Agreements, State and Local Sales and Use Tax, Estate Planning & Administration/Tax Planning, and the Reporting of Real Estate Transactions to the IRS. Tami lives in Baton Rouge with her husband, Will, and her two children, Savannah and Will.
Robert A. Breazeale, II
Robert (“Rob”) is an Associate Attorney with Gunn & York. His practice focuses on complex Civil Tax Dispute resolution and representation before the IRS and Louisiana Department of Revenue (DOR), with respect to varying tax issues, with significantly extensive experience with high-level negotiations with the IRS and DOR, Offers in Compromise, Installment Agreements, assistance with the representation and defense of Taxpayers accused of criminal conduct, etc. Rob also practices in the areas of tax and estate planning, including the drafting of complex wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents. Rob is experienced in the formation of corporations, LLCs, and non-profit/tax-exempt entities, and is also experienced in sales/use tax controversies and litigation. Rob earned his J.D. degree from Loyola University New Orleans, College of Law in 2012, where he served as a Student Practitioner with the Stuart H. Smith Law Clinic and Center for Social Justice, and was President of Phi Alpha Delta. Rob has guest-lectured at Loyola Law School regarding employment-related tax issues. Rob also attended Southwestern University, in Georgetown Texas, where he was a Paideia Scholar. Rob lives in Baton Rouge with his wife, Robin and their children, Adele and Beau.
